Learning at the SI
At the Sustainability Institute learning is intergenerational, from early childhood to adulthood, rooted in regenerative, relational, and experiential education.
This all unfolds in campus-wide spaces that invites learning differently, nurtures creativity, sparks possibility and builds collective imagination needed for a just and regenerative future.
We wish for every individual who engages
Build a meaningful livelihood aligned with purpose and possibility.
Become a role model and catalyst for change in their communities or fields.
Act as an agent of systemic transformation, co-creating just and regenerative futures.
Embody and radiate joy, connection, and a sense of collective belonging.

The Lynedoch Children’s House
Imagination, creativity and learning are grounded at Lynedoch in early childhood development. The Lynedoch Children’s House is where many little ones start their learning journey with us. We follow a Montessori approach to learning, cherishing each child’s innate love for learning in the Infant Community (0 – 3 years) and Children’s House (3 – 6 years).

Transformative Learning Partnerships
We partner with universities and learning organisations to turn theory into practice. On our campus, cohorts grapple with real systems, surface their mental models, and learn how innovation actually unfolds in complexity, so they design new paradigms, not just tweaks to old ones. We challenge conventional thinking and inspire action towards a future that includes plenty, possibility and regeneration.

Residencies

Residencies
The SI Residency invites practice and thought leaders to immerse in our living campus, stretch their ideas through systems and complexity thinking, and co-create tangible prototypes with our teams. Each residency culminates in a practical “leave-behind” — tools, methods, practices or pilots that integrate into SI operations and benefit our wider community.

Transformative Learning Partnerships
At the Imaginarium, students move beyond classrooms into immersive, place-based environments that connect ideas to lived reality – prototyping, testing, reflecting, and seeing the messiness of change. We help learners identify and shift the assumptions driving their decisions, focusing on root causes in community and ecology rather than symptoms. The result is learning that is transformative, practical, and regenerative.
Some of our long-standing partners are:
- Stellenbosch University
- University of Cape Town
- Mandela Rhodes Foundation (and others)
