The Local WILD Food Hub’s vision is to see indigenous foods of the Greater Cape Floristic Region reintegrated into local foodways* and contributing wellness to its ecologies, localised economies and people.

* the social, cultural, ecological and economic practices of producing, accessing and consuming food

To bring the work of the hub to life, we follow three approaches:

  • KNOW: Projects and collaborations that co-create and disseminate knowledge and innovation about local indigenous foods
  • GROW: On-site propagation, cultivation and landscape regeneration projects based on local indigenous foods
  • USE: Projects and the contribution they make to the SI’s programmes that use local indigenous ingredients in cooking and processing
