It has been an exhilarating half season for the junior Lynedoch Football Club teams,  after playing just over 5 games, the under 15 team  is hot on the heels of the Maties Football Club who are currently first  in their division.

To add further excitement the junior team is being hotly pursued by Newton’s Football Team in an attempt to oust them from their second place position.  At the end of the first half of the season, the Lynedoch U15s were 6 points behind Maties Football Club, whilst Newtons Football Club trailed behind Lynedoch FC with a goal difference of merely 5 goals. With only a few games left in the season the aspiring football stars are fighting tooth and nail to bring the much coveted trophy back to Lynedoch.

The first half of the season has also seen the under 11s and under 13s make remarkable efforts in their divisions, placing 4th out of 10 and 11 teams respectively. And whilst many of their games have been cancelled due to bad weather, this has not dulled the energy of this boisterous bunch, who are keen to learn the rules of the game and compete in as many matches as possible.  The team has helped to foster a spirit of camaraderie, brotherhood and discipline in the young members and this is reflected in their team motto which is, “We are a team, we play as a team, we lose as a team, we win as a team, and when a team mate gets disciplined, we get disciplined as a team.” And as their coach Shaun Claasen, so aptly put, “….it’s not about winning or losing but more about taking a lesson from the results, good or bad and trying to improve in the next match.”
