On the evening of 8th August 2007, over 600 people came together to celebrate Women’s Day at Lynedoch and our fifth year in the Main Building. Most were parents of the children who attend the Lynedoch Primary School. After speeches by the School Principal, Grantham Jansen, and the Mayor of Stellenbosch, the hall was filled by the sound of 650 African drums. Afterwards, the bonfire was lit by the women of the community as the children sang. As the fire burned down, everyone helped themselves to some wonderful food and enjoyed an unusually warm rain-free night.
