From end August to early October, Mark and Eve will be on sabbatical based at the London School of Economics, London. Hosted by Prof Ricky Burdett, Director of LSE Cities (which recently published Going Green: How cities are leading the next economy – see pic), Mark and Eve will spend most of their time completing various writing assignments. These include chapters for a book on EcoCultures edited by Jules Pretty and colleagues from the University of Essex, plus chapters for two new edited volumes – one on Greening the South African Economy edited by Mark Swilling, Josephine Musango and Jeremy
Wakeford, and the other book is entitled Untamed Urbanism edited by Adriana Allen, Adrea Lampis and Mark Swilling (based on papers contributed to a colloquiem in Quito, Ecuador, that took place towards the end of 2012). Eve will be interacting with the international Montessori movement, and Mark will co-facilitate a UNEP workshop in Nantes, France, to discuss the future research programme of the Cities Working Group of the International Resource Panel. Seminars will be delivered at LSE, University College London and Utrecht University. Mark will also deliver a talk at the EcoCity Conference in Nantes on 26 September and a plenary address at the World Resources Forum in Davos on 7 October .
