Eve Annecke delivered a keynote address to the conference on The Necessary Transition, Griffiths University, 27 September, Brisbane. The conference was hosted by Professor Malcolm McIntosh who heads up the Asia-Pacific Centre for Sustainable Enterprise – he is also appointed as an Extra-Ordinary Professor in the School of Public Leadership. Eve’s talk was entitled Reflections on a decade of learning at the Sustainability Institute, Stellenbosch University, South Africa. She reflected on the history of the Lynedoch EcoVillage and the learning approaches developed by the Sustainability Institute.
The talk was well recieved and referred to often during the event.
Mark Swilling also delivered a keynote address to the conference the next day. His talk was entitled Just Transitions and the Next Long-Term Development Cycle: Warnings from the African Context. This was similar to the talk delivered at the Copenhagen conference.
