Soil, Soul & Society: Tackling food waste

Roughly one-third of the edible parts of food produced for human consumption globally gets lost or wasted each year - enough food to feed around 3 billion people. 4 600 kilocalories of food are harvested per day for every person on the planet, yet only around 2 000 are eaten – what is happening with the rest of the food produced?

Join us for an evening with Niki Charalampopoulou of Feedback UK as she shares her journey in tackling the food waste challenge in her home country and internationally. Together with Tristram Stewart, she created the first Feeding the 5000 event in London’s Trafalgar Square in 2009, and they subsequently founded Feedback UK to expose and combat the global food waste scandal. Niki has a wealth of experience in activism for social change, and we are honoured to host her during her visit to South Africa in July.
