Food Systems Centre
The SI Food Systems Centre (FSC) is a small team of committed researchers, teachers and activists focused on improving the sustainability of the food system.
We aim to explore approaches to creating socially equitable food systems that restore rather than destroy the ecosystems within which all societies are embedded.
Since its inception in 2008, the FSC has been a key programmatic area of the SI. Our staff are also responsible for academic coordination of the 'sustainable food systems' stream within the Postgraduate Diploma and Masters' in Sustainable Development at Stellenbosch University. Visit one of our pages below to find out more about the courses we run, the training we offer in agroecological farming, and the research we conduct with students from Stellenbosch, with local and international research partners and for a range of clients. Read more on what, as a student, you can expect when becoming involved with the Food Systems team.
