On Thursday 11th October Mariette Williams ran an HIV/AIDSworkshop for the Changes Youth Group.  A pre & post questionnaire was also used to test their understanding and knowledge of the issues discussed, and in the Pre questionnaire we found that the boys lacked clear understanding about HIV/AIDS and biological knowledge.  We were somewhat cautious that the course was presented to teenage boys by a woman (!), but our concerns proved to be unfounded as the workshop took on an interactive approach with lots of questions (mainly biological) and explanations throughout.

On Thursday 4th October Lachlan Prouse - an Australian who is traveling across the globe on a bicycle - met with the Changes Youth group to share some of his experiences.  To date Lachlan has traveled through 55 countries, inc. China, Iran, Angola, DRC, Namibia and has biked approximately  66,000 km; or as he put it to the kids 'Once around the world and once around the moon!'.

The youth group were suitably impressed with his photos and experiences of the last 3.5 years' cycling, but were somewhat unconvinced about his practical-but-not-very-diverse daily pasta diet!  Lachlan is currently enjoying a well earned rest at the SI before getting back on his bike and heading off to Johannesburg.
