South African Cities in the Second Decade of Democracy: Emerging Conceptual and Policy Spaces for a New Urban Agenda by Prof. Mark Swilling. This paper was presented at the International Colloquiem: Urban Challenges in Brazil and South Africa, Rio de Janeiro, 10-13 September, 2007.

This paper  by Prof. Mark Swilling was commissioned by the Presidency, South African Government. It was presented at a workshop in July 2007 convened by the Presidency to discuss and develop scenarios for 2019 with respect to the full range of government policy frameworks.

Schirin Yachkaschi is doing her Phd on organisation development in CBOs, supervised by Prof. Mark Swilling. This paper reflects her core thinking that will be elaborated theoretically and empirically in her Phd. Her research is based on work she did with CBOs while working for Community Connections, an NGO that supports CBOs with offices at the Philippi Business Place - an SI project.

Facilitating Energy Efficiency in the Commercial Sector by David Nicol. David Nicol is employed by the Sustainability Institute and heads up the Energy Efficiency Initiative located within the Cape Town Partnership. This reflects some of the learning from the first year of experience from this project.

The Sustainability Institute's research team helped Spier to write its Sustainability Report which won top honours at ACCA Awards this year.
