This paper  by Prof. Mark Swilling was commissioned by the Presidency, South African Government. It was presented at a workshop in July 2007 convened by the Presidency to discuss and develop scenarios for 2019 with respect to the full range of government policy frameworks.

South African Cities in the Second Decade of Democracy: Emerging Conceptual and Policy Spaces for a New Urban Agenda by Prof. Mark Swilling. This paper was presented at the International Colloquiem: Urban Challenges in Brazil and South Africa, Rio de Janeiro, 10-13 September, 2007.

This document, by Bryce Anderson who is based in the Sustainability Institute, summarizes 8 years of learning with respect to the land reform project on municipal land near to Lynedoch. The Sustainability Institute has played various roles in this pioneering project over the years.

The Sustainability Institute's research team helped Spier to write its Sustainability Report which won top honours at ACCA Awards this year.

This is Part 1 of the Oude Molen Scenarios document completed in 2007 by the Oude Molen team led by John and Shannon Van Breda. This document was submitted to the Cabinet of the Western Cape Provincial Government to guide decision-making with respect to the Oude Molen Development in Cape Town's inner city. The Sustainability Institute was appointed in 2005 to project manage this development.
